US court to hear Guantanamo detainee’s complaint

The first detainee to be transferred from Guantanamo to New York for trial was to argue Monday in New York that his rights have been violated during five years of detention.

Lawyers for Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian accused of helping to plot bloody 1998 attacks on US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, argue that his constitutional rights have been violated because he was denied a speedy trial.
