4.3 earthquake ‘rattles people awake’ in west suburbs

 An earthquake of a preliminary magnitude of 4.3 centered in DeKalb County rocked  northern Illinois early this morning,  according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at 3:59 a.m. about five miles east of Sycamore, or about 4 miles west/northwest from Virgil, according to USGS geophysicist Amy Vaughn.
