U.S. ready to provide Lebanon with light attack aircraft: report

BEIRUT, Feb. 12, 2010 (Xinhua News Agency) — The United States expressed readiness to provide Lebanon by 2013 with aircraft designed for light attack, the local daily As Safir reported Friday.

The report said the Pentagon has proposed to provide Lebanon with Hawker-Beechcraft AT-6 or Embraer (NYSE:ERJ) Super Tucano planes to improve its capabilities in reconnaissance missions and counter- insurgency operations, the report said.

The proposal came during talks between Lebanese Armed Forces ( LAF) delegation and U.S. military officials in Washington. A LAF delegation, headed by Lebanese Defense Minister Elias Murr, is currently on a visit to Washington

  1. I can just see the Left rattling their cages over this move by their “anti-war” president. I guess it’s easy to make campaign pledges before sitting down and reviewing the actual classified Intelligence about world affairs. At least Obama has the smarts to realize that Bush was RIGHT when it came to national security and not insert politics at this level.
